Pickens County Chamber of Commerce announced at the August Membership Breakfast that August’s Small Business of the Month is Burnt Mountain Trading Company. Julia Jorns with Julia Jorns, CPA, LLC and sponsor of the Small Business of the Month program, awarded the owner, Royce Haley, a framed certificate.
Burnt Mountain Trading Company grew from a successful business in Roswell. In August, 2008, this second location was opened in Jasper. It is now a corner here in town that has captured the attention and imagination of all who pass by.
The business model is one that can contribute to success in a difficult economy. The plan is to share overhead by creating a variety of venues in one location. Visiting this business is a feast for the senses and the shopper. One never knows what exciting item will be around the next corner. Additionally, over 20 local artists feature their work and share their expertise in classes at this location. Look at the website and sign up for a class.
The owners live the adage to make a life, not just a living. They jumped into our community with great energy for activities they are passionate about.
They are proud of being instrumental in getting the W. Church St sign at 515.
One owner chairs the program committee for the Chamber and is on the Sharptop Art Association Board of Directors. Creativity emerges strongly in their participation. Remember the great birdhouse competition? It was a very successful fundraiser. You may anticipate another great fun competition from them in the fall!
At the Jasper location, the business donates free spaces to benefit Sharp Top Art Association and Pickens Animal Rescue. When you visit you will immediately recognize and enjoy their love of beautiful, artistic items and animals.
The business also helps our local Community Thrift Store to sell unusual or particularly valuable items that they may receive.
Please join the Chamber in congratulating August’s Small Business of the Month, Burnt Mountain Trading Company!!!
